What is the I Ching?
Book of Changes
The I Ching, also known as the Book of Changes, is an ancient Chinese text used for insight and reflection. It is based on 64 hexagrams, symbols formed by six solid or broken lines. This system has been consulted for centuries as a guide to understanding life's challenges and opportunities.
How does the I Ching work?
Yarrow stalks or 3-coin toss
Hexagram Dreams uses the 3-coin toss method to cast hexagrams. By tossing the coins six times, a hexagram is formed, revealing insights and guidance. This process is also known as casting the I Ching.
Ask a Question
Cast Your Hexagram
Before casting your hexagram, you can type a question to personalize your reading. This helps you focus your intent and receive guidance related to a specific situation. If you prefer, you can leave the field blank and proceed. When you're ready, tap on "Cast I Ching" exactly six times.
Interpret Your Hexagram
What Does the Oracle say?
To understand the meaning of your reading, the app provides a general interpretation of your hexagram. If you'd like a more custom interpretation, tap on "What does the Oracle Say". Sometimes, your reading will result in a single hexagram, while other times, it will show two hexagrams if the first one contains changing lines. The second hexagram represents the transformation or evolution of your situation.
Review Your Past Readings
Save Notes and Access Your History
The app optionally saves your readings so you can revisit past insights. Each entry includes the question you asked, the hexagrams you received, and the date and time of the reading. This allows you to reflect on patterns and how guidance unfolds over time.
